Old Isleworth Market

Further Information for stallholders

Interested in having a stall at Old Isleworth Market? Have a read of the following information, before applying, to help you make your decision.
Thank you for your interest in joining us at Old Isleworth Market. We are a relatively small but very friendly market serving our local population in Isleworth and the surrounding areas of St Margarets, Twickenham, Hounslow and beyond.

We have been running since 2018 when a small group, led by Rowan Joyce, the owner of South Street Cafe, set up a fortnightly market in response to local demand. There was much interest from small local businesses and the Isleworth community supported this new venture with gusto. Since this time a new team of volunteers have taken over the organisation and we have moved to monthly trading.

During 2024 we will be running from April to December, on the 1st Saturday of the month – bar August when we take a well earned break!

Types of stall

We encourage applications from small businesses, with priority given to local businesses, new businesses and charities. We aim to offer a selection of stalls to ensure the market appeals to customers. Our regular established food stalls cover cakes, pies, chocolate and breads. In addition we have visiting artists, beauty and craft stallholders and a different musician each month.

We welcome applications from stallholders who can offer something different to the existing provision. As a small market we do not duplicate the provision of existing stalls. If your products are similar to booked stalls we are happy to keep your details on file in case anything changes.

If you are unsure if your products may clash with another’s we encourage you to complete the form with as much detail as possible about your products and we will come back to you.

Food Stalls

All stalls selling food of any kind need to be registered with their relevant Local Authority and this needs to be detailed on your application to the market.

Those involved in preparing and serving food must have relevant and up-to-date food safety and hygiene training, and be able to provide evidence of this.

Allergen information must be readily and clearly available for each food product sold at the market and packaged goods must be clearly and appropriately labelled.

Due to our licensing restrictions food stalls can only offer ready to serve food rather than food cooked at the stall. If you wanted to provide warm food to customers you could use hot plates or heated soup tureens to keep pre-prepared food warm.

Stall Sizes, Fees, Gazebos & Gazebo Hire

The market is based on the area surrounding the green enclosure at Shrewsbury Walk, just off South Street near the H37 Bus stop.

Stalls spaces are available in either 2m x 2m or 3m x 3m sizes.

The fee per stall per market is £25 or £30 respectively. If you want to discuss hiring a different space please get in touch with details.
All stallholders must have a suitably robust and weather resistant gazebo that is weighted down to participate in the market.

We have a small number of gazebos of both sizes available to hire at a fee of £5. These are available on a first come first served basis but must be pre-booked. Market owned gazebos are normally erected, placed on site and taken down by our good friends and volunteers the Lions and stored in the shed of our friends at South Street Cafe.

There may be certain market dates where this is not possible, and stallholders requiring gazebos will need to make their own arrangements to collect, erect and place hired gazebos on site, as well as pack down and return to the shed at the end of the market.

Public Liability Insurance

We have public liability insurance cover in place for all market days. In addition to this, we require all stallholders to have their own public liability insurance in place to protect themselves and their businesses against any potential claims. We need proof of this at time of booking in order to secure your plot.

Additional Requirements

We have capacity to provide electrical hook up to a small number of stalls but must know if you require this in advance – at least 2 weeks before the market date in order that we can support you in this.

All electrical items must be PAT tested and proof of this given to market representatives prior to their use at the market.

If you have any other requirements please drop us a line to let us know.

Running Times

Each market runs from 11am-3pm.

Set up is from 10am.

Stalls need to be cleared by 3:30pm latest.

Access to Facilities

We have use of handwashing and toilet facilities at friendly local establishments on Shrewsbury Walk – South Street Cafe, Elvis & Ivy’s and Isleworth Greengrocer.

Parking

Free parking is available from 11am on side roads near the market, and before this free loading for half an hour on South Street. This is available on a first come basis. Pay and display parking is available on South Street and car parks nearby throughout market set up times.

Marketing

Each market event will be promoted on all our social media channels and locally via posters in local shops. We are also happy to link with local schools and businesses to help spread the word.
As a stallholder we are happy to share market related posts about stallholder’s products and business.

Do please help us to build up excitement with our followers by tagging us in market related posts and stories. We actively encourage stallholders to reciprocate this activity too.

Want to apply?

If this sounds like something you would like to do, please complete the expression of interest form.

Confirming your Stall

The Market team will discuss all completed applications received and will confirm to the email given in your application whether you have been successful or not. This will normally take 2-5 working days.

Payment & Public Liability Insurance

When your application for a market stall has been confirmed, you will be sent our bank details and instructions for payment by bank transfer.

To secure your booking, payment must be made and a copy of your public Liability Insurance and food hygiene certificate must be emailed to the market organisers.
